Your own log always works offline, because it lives on your phone. Most issues are about sharing with a partner, reminders or moving to a new phone. Find the section that matches below.

A partner can't accept your invite

Your partner accepts a share by opening the invite link or scanning the QR code in PearPetal. If that fails:

  • Make sure both phones have internet access and PearPetal is open on both. Accepting needs both phones online at the same time.
  • iPhone. Make sure PearPetal has Local Network permission. Settings, PearPetal, Local Network. Without it, two phones on the same Wi-Fi cannot reach each other directly.
  • If you are on a work or school Wi-Fi network that blocks peer to peer traffic, try mobile data instead.
  • Close and reopen PearPetal on both phones and try again.
  • If nothing else works, create a fresh share link from the Share tab and send that one.

QR code won't scan

  • Turn up the brightness on the phone showing the code.
  • Clean the camera lens on the phone doing the scanning.
  • Check that PearPetal is allowed to use the camera. It only uses it to scan invite codes.
  • If scanning still fails, send the invite link instead, by any messaging app. Opening the link in PearPetal works the same as scanning.

Your partner's view isn't updating

What you log reaches your partner the next time both phones can reach each other. If their view looks out of date:

  • Open PearPetal on both phones. iPhones pause apps in the background, so sharing catches up when the app is open.
  • Check that both phones have internet right now.
  • On iPhone, check the Local Network permission as above.
  • If one network blocks peer to peer connections, switching one phone to mobile data often fixes it.
  • Your partner only sees the scope you chose: cycle phase only, your fertile window or your full cycle. If they expect to see more, check which scope you picked in the Share tab.

Reminders aren't arriving

  • Reminders are off until you turn them on. Check that the reminder you want is switched on in PearPetal's settings.
  • iPhone. Settings, Notifications, PearPetal. Make sure Allow Notifications is on. Check Focus or Do Not Disturb if they arrive silently.
  • Android. Settings, Apps, PearPetal, Notifications. Make sure notifications are allowed.
  • Reminders are scheduled on your phone, so they work without internet once notifications are allowed.

Predictions look off

  • Predictions are worked out on your phone from your own history. They get better the more cycles you log.
  • Check that your goal is set correctly, and that any conditions or birth control you use are entered. Both change the predictions.
  • Predictions are estimates. They are not a diagnosis and not a method of contraception, so do not rely on them to prevent or achieve pregnancy.

Moving to a new phone

There is no cloud copy, so a backup file is how your log moves with you.

  • On the old phone, use Export in Settings to save a backup file. You can protect it with a password.
  • Move the file to the new phone any way you like, then use Import in Settings to restore everything.
  • Keep the password safe. A password-protected backup cannot be opened without it, by anyone, including us.
  • If you have linked a second phone, its first changes can need an app reopen before they finish syncing.

Still stuck

Email peerloomllc@proton.me or open a GitHub issue. Include your phone model, OS version and what you have already tried. Please do not include any of your cycle data.
