The short version

PeerLoom Seeder runs on a machine you own. PeerLoom LLC runs no server for it, has no account for you and receives nothing from it. Everything it stores stays on that machine.

What it stores

The data your paired phones back up to it, scrambled. It never receives the keys to your lists, calendars, circles or files, so it cannot read them, and neither can anyone who takes the machine.

To do its job it keeps, in plain form: its own key, the keys of the devices paired with it and the app each paired from, a name you give a device, which spaces each device backs up, how big they are and when they change, and the storage limit you set.

What leaves the machine

The scrambled data, to and from your paired phones and the other members of your groups. When a direct connection does not work, that traffic can pass through the PeerLoom relay, which forwards it still scrambled and keeps no copy (see Relay).

On Mac, Windows and Linux it asks GitHub once an hour whether a newer version is out. GitHub sees that request like any other visit; it carries no information about you or your data. On Umbrel and StartOS it does not check; their app stores handle updates.
